DEFRA Consultation Letter, 7 November 2012
LABELLING - Consultation on the Food Information Regulations (FIR) 2013, being made to enable the provisions of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers (‘FIC’)
I am writing to invite views on the Government's plans to introduce legislation, in the form of a Statutory Instrument (SI) bringing into force the provisions of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers (FIC).

Also available are two standalone sections of the SI, to be used in the event that a decision is made to include them, which cover;
- Provision to require the name of food to be provided on food sold not pre-packed, and
- Provision to require a Quantitative Indication of Ingredients (QUID) to be provided on food sold not pre-packed.
A guidance document on the FIR is being prepared and will be made available by the 16 November 2012 [See below].
