COMPOSITIONAL STANDARDS - Proposal for Council Directives Relating to Sugars, Honey, Fruit Juice, Preserved Milk and Jam for Human Consumption
Report on the draft Council directives concerning the simplification of the vertical directives on foodstuffs:
Voting at lunchtime, MEPs adopted this so-called “breakfast directive” by an overwhelming majority. Amendments were carried on a definition of brown sugar, on filtered honey or baker's honey (which were regarded as inferior to real honey), on information to the consumer on the composition of fruit juices and on standards for dehydrated preserved milk.
