GMO - Labelling and Traceability of Genetically Modified Organisms

Extract from Minutes of 2295th Council meeting- ENVIRONMENT -Brussels, 10 October 2000

Ms WALLSTRÖM briefed the Council on progress in preparatory work at the Commission on the proposals on the labelling and traceability of genetically modified organisms, which were awaited to supplement Community rules on GMO on the market.

Several delegations and the Presidency stressed the importance and urgency of these proposals and asked the Commission to present them as soon as possible, and in any case before Christmas.
