Food labelling - Consolidation Directive Agreed

The following is taken from the report of the 2246th Council meeting (ECOFIN):

The Council adopted a Directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the labelling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs. The text consolidates Directive 79/112/EEC (to be repealed) and its seven modifications, adopted from 1980 to 1997, and does not introduce changes of substance in the existing provisions.
