A copy of the draft report described below is available on this site. See: Materials and Articles in Contact with Food Draft Report
The Food Standards Agency is carrying out a post implementation review of the Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) Regulations 2012. Details of the review are available in a draft report.
About this consultation
The Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) Regulations 2012 provide for the enforcement of European Regulations and the implementation of EU Directives on food contact materials.
Within the draft report, there are a series of questions that we would welcome responses to. These are also copied below.
- We invite stakeholders to provide evidence if they believe that the actual familiarisation costs incurred were higher or lower than our estimates in the 2012 impact assessment to accompany the Regulations (Question 1)
- We invite stakeholders to comment on whether simplification of the Regulations led to benefits for industry and enforcement officers? (Question 2)
- We invite stakeholders to comment on whether the enforcement of the EU Regulations and the implementation of EU Directives on food contact materials leads to extra burdens on businesses than the implementation in other Member States? Please provide evidence where additional burdens have been identified (Question 3)
We would welcome comments and supporting evidence on any cost implications that may have arisen from the implementation of these Regulations and any other comments you may wish to make.
All comments and views should be sent by email to foodcontactmaterial@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk and marked for the attention of Vincent Greenwood. Responses are requested by: Friday, 28 July 2017.
